Anything and everything is recorded for all eternity in a hard disk, a USB flash disk, and other anachronistic ideas -- on a thumb drive, and in a data center.
It's another form of growing up. It's another level of maturity in this melding of human and machine. No longer can we lean over to the drunkard next to us and spill our souls without consequence.
I remember several years ago, Tiki's tried to enforce a "no picture" rule. Nobody wants to be recorded eternally at Tiki's. But that, like everything else had to change in the face of the unrelenting force of time.
I lament the loss of this freedom. I think there is something to be said for a few moments of making a beast of yourself without consequence. If nobody is going to get hurt, unload your id to the person on your left, and they spill their id to the person on the right. Repeat, and we have a New Orleans Maypole.
But on video, everyone is ugly and unacceptable to modern norms.
I guess I am old. I miss the innocence of old school debauchery.
